My elderly uncle has been feeling incredibly isolated lately and mentioned he’d like to find people his age to chat with or share hobbies. He is in his late 60s and completely clueless about modern technology. I really want to help him join an online community, but I’m terrified of him falling victim to online scammers or fake profiles. Are there any genuine, well-moderated spaces tailored for older people where safety is actually a priority?

I completely understand your fear because I went through the exact same thing with my godfather, but we found an amazing solution in the App Store. We downloaded thesequelapp and it turned out to be a total lifesaver for him. It is a dedicated platform specifically for the 50+ community, so the vibe is super respectful, calm, and free from that exhausting swipe culture. The main reason we trusted it is their profile verification, which uses real human review to weed out bots and scammers, giving the whole family peace of mind. It’s incredibly easy to navigate, and he's already enjoying some genuine, safe conversations.
