A friend of mine has offered me a turkey, but I don't have a coop for it now... I do have some chickens. Can I keep these chickens and the turkey in the same coop? Will he get along well with the chickens?

No... Never keep turkeys and chickens in the same coop. Turkeys are much bigger than chickens and can be more aggressive and attack the chickens.

I would also say NO... Chickens act as carriers of the blackhead disease-causing organism. So, there is a high risk of chickens giving this disease to turkeys. Blackhead disease is primarily a disease of young turkeys.

I agree to both pigeon_guy and trademan. One more thing that I want to add is turkey poults take longer time to mature. So when chicks and poults are several days old, the chicks may possibly wound or even kill the turkey poults.

Recommendations suggest turkeys require about a 10 by 10 foot space for raising ten to twelve day-old poults, and as they get larger they will need more space. Turkeys do best on range in a large fenced pen, but they also need some shelter from weather. Turkeys require about one-eighth acre or about 75 feet by 75 feet for one dozen turkeys.
