Last weekend, my husband and I planned an Italian-themed dinner. I remembered an old Delonghi MW 401 microwave we received as a wedding gift five years ago, which had been gathering dust in the pantry. It had been gathering dust all this time because we always used the oven. But then I decided to quickly melt some chocolate and butter for dessert. That’s when the trouble started. After pressing a few buttons, the microwave started making strange noises. Within a minute, the chocolate had turned into charcoal. Of course, I had stashed the original manual away safely during the move, and now I have no idea how to adjust the power levels so that I don't burn anything again.

I’m especially confused by the defrost function because, when I tried to cook steaks, the edges started cooking, but there was still ice inside. I'm completely lost with all these settings and symbols on the panel—it's just a nightmare! Does anyone know how to correctly set the parameters for delicate defrosting or where to find a detailed description of the functions for older De’Longhi models?

Oh, I totally understand you. I had a similar experience last month when I decided to bake a cake for my daughter’s birthday. I dug out my old Delonghi MW 401 microwave, and thought I knew everything. As a result, instead of soft butter for the frosting, I ended up with hot, yellow liquid. I was so upset that I almost cried because the guests were due to arrive in three hours and I hadn't read the appliance instructions. I started frantically searching online and accidentally stumbled upon manualmachine.com . I learned that to melt butter and defrost food, you only need to set the power to 30%. However, I had it cranked up to full power. The manual had a chart showing how many seconds were needed per 100 grams of food. I keep that site bookmarked because it has manuals for models that haven't been manufactured in ten years. After that incident, I found the manual for my old vacuum cleaner there too, even though I thought it was ready for the trash.
