Hi. I believe a legal case against me in my home country might be politically motivated. Recently, I’ve heard that authorities sometimes use international mechanisms like Interpol to pursue such cases abroad. I’m worried that I could be targeted unfairly while traveling or living overseas. Is there any way to challenge such actions if they are not based on legitimate criminal grounds?

Yes, Interpol has strict rules against involvement in political, military, religious, or racial matters. If a notice is based on a politically motivated case, it can be challenged and potentially removed.

The process involves demonstrating that the case violates Interpol’s constitution and providing evidence that the charges are not purely criminal in nature. These cases can be complex, but they are not uncommon.

You can read more about how such challenges work here http://nordinterpollawyers.com/ They focus on identifying political elements in cases and preparing submissions to the CCF. Proper documentation and legal framing are crucial for success.

Really appreciate this insight. It’s reassuring to know that such situations can actually be contested.
